From 28 August to 1 July, Dr. Walid El Abed, Founder and CEO of Global Data Excellence, was invited to take part in “The Ties That Bind: A Journey Toward Understanding and Human Fraternity.”

The event was organized by the Higher Committee of Human Fraternity during the Venice Film Festival at the Cipriani Hotel. It brought together leaders, thinkers, and visionaries who share the goal of building peace and unity.

In his speech, Dr. Walid highlighted the importance of Venice as a city of art, culture, and innovation. He recalled how Leonardo da Vinci once visited Venice and found inspiration in its creativity. Likewise, today’s society must use knowledge and imagination to shape a better future.

Dr. Walid also spoke about the unique role of cinema. According to him, cinema is “the lantern that illuminates our quest.” Films do more than entertain. They help people care, understand each other, and imagine a world where love, peace, and prosperity win over hate, war, and scarcity.

Reflecting on his own journey as a child of refugees and expert in AI and data governance, Dr. Walid stressed the need to connect knowledge and stories. Data outlines the problems, but stories inspire solutions.

At Global Data Excellence, this idea guides the work of DEMS NIXUS (La Machina), an AI-powered platform that supports humanity’s transition “from darkness to light, from hate and war to love and peace.”
